In response to the suspension of the training provided by the Scottish Police College to the Sri Lankan Police Forces, the Tamils for Labour welcome the decision, but we call upon the
Scottish Government to cancel the service with immediate effect.
The Chair of the Tamils for Labour, Lakshan Chitrakumaran said, “the UK government must do more to make sure the police service of the Scottish Government does not involve with the Sri Lankan police service, who have been accused of committing abductions, execution of Tamils, and systematic torture of its own citizens mostly Tamils in Sri Lanka with impunity deriving from the draconian Prevention of Terrorism Act.” We thank Sam Tarry MP and Labour Party for taking up this matter with the UK government.
We request the UK government to apply the Global Human Rights Sanctions Regime Act on
perpetrators who have committed atrocity crimes against Tamils in Sri Lanka.
